Modern Bedroom Designs
There are many aspects to modern bedroom design. In previous posts we have discussed bedroom themes and how to go about choosing what is right for you. We have also focused in on specific projects like designing a master bedroom. Some people like to follow a theme to the extreme. We addressed that when we examined the sometimes challenging possibilities of using all white furniture in a bedroom.
We have also previously taken a look at using color schemes in our interior design plans. It is an immensely important consideration when you are getting serious about your home designs. You can pack the most expensive and well designed furnishings into a room, but if your colors are off, things will just never really click. This is another visit back to the topic of color in the bedroom. We will take a look at why certain colors and styles should be encouraged or avoided. Of course, the most important thing is that you are happy with the design you choose. You are the one who will be spending the most time in the rooms you design. Don’t ever let someone else’s opinion make you go against what makes you the happiest when it comes to designing your home.
To sleep in a beautiful bedroom with a marvelously comfortable bed, wrapped in silky sheets and spiced up with fluffy pillows of different sizes and shapes is an undeniable luxury especially after having a productive and exhausting day. Somehow it just seems like you deserve to be comforted and pampered. You need a bedroom that can soothe your spirit and help you re-energize for more productive and exhausting tomorrows. With the right kind of interior design touches, you will be guaranteed an enjoyable and relaxing rest as well as a pleasant and peaceful sleep. The selection of the perfect bedroom colors is one of these special enchanting touches.
Applying the right color palette for the bedroom can enhance its beauty. A monochromatic bedroom with green as the dominant color can be very relaxing. Staring at a cool green wall with striped wallpaper of the different shades of green is very refreshing. It tells your brain to follow the simple lines rather than focus your entire attention in that particular color and keep your mind awake and restless. Shades of brown and yellow can be used in the bedroom blended in a neutral color palette to harmonize the elements within the room. The use of natural wood with brown tones on the bed frame, side tables and chaise lounge can give off an earthy feel to the bedroom.
When you use the color blue in a child’s bedroom, it reminds them of the sky and the ocean, elements that trigger their nerves to relax and engage in deep sleep. A fun bedroom in purple and pink entices a little girl’s fancy yet these colors being the lighter versions of the bold violet and the vibrant red make them more suitable for rest and sleep in the bedroom. Colors connote certain images and meanings that signify their capability to affect the mood and appearance of the bedroom. They can represent your personality when you decide to use them as a medium to express yourself. If you have a lively and cheerful disposition, light yellow pillows and sheets can be used in your bedroom as well as floral patterns of oranges and greens in the curtain and upholstery fabrics. A more introverted personality can make use of deep purple or midnight blue wallpaper preferably in only one accent wall just to showcase the interests of that person. They can be applied where display shelves and provocative paintings and artworks are hung to emphasize their haunting beauty.
With the help of colors, a bedroom can take on a more significant look. It can be the most functional area for rest and relaxation. It can persuade you to sleep with subdued colors in the walls and furnishings. Your bedroom can be your portrait with shades and hues that define your outer face as well as the face that remains concealed to the outside world.

A-Patriotic-Home-Decorating-Theme
There are many things you can do to bring Old Glory front and center within your home that do not require you to drape your furniture with the American flag or having the flag hanging in every window. In fact, most would frown on that particular practice. One thing that can be said without fail though is that nothing can change the overall impression a room gives as completely as a bucket of paint and a brush. In other words, the best place to begin is often with the walls of your home. Painting a backdrop of red and trimming with blue and white makes a bold and powerful statement. It's also a rather lovely statement if you choose the correct shades of red, white, and blue.
In addition to paint there are all kinds of country style dйcor that would compliment a patriotic theme quite nicely. From stars that are designed to hang on the wall to patchwork quilts in these patriotic shades and a quilt rack that can either stand against the wall or hang on the wall. Quilts are outstanding choices to bring colors into a room as well as an excellent method for adding warmth. In addition to many quilts there are also plenty of throws and blankets that can bring these colors front and center in almost any room of the home.
In addition to walls, furniture can be painted in order to match the walls and other colors you'd like to incorporate into the room. There is nothing quite like walking into a home that has its full patriotic splendor shining for all the world to see. It's a beautiful thing made even more poignant now that the initial wave of patriotism following the September 11th attacks has faded somewhat. For those that are true patriots there are few better ways to show that than by making your home a testament of your patriotism.
Candles are another great way to display your patriotic spirit. Red, white, and blue candles are made in many wonderful styles, sizes, and fragrances. You should be able to find something appropriate in this color combination if you look hard enough. More importantly, fragrance is a great (and often overlooked) way to add another dimension to your home decorating endeavors. If you want to truly make an impression burn apple pie scented candles on a regular basis so that your home almost always smells as American as apple pie. In addition to candles of course there are fragrance warmers, air sprays, and simmering pots in which this scent can be found (particularly if you prefer a scent layering affect in your home).
Whether you simply like the look of patriot blue or you feel that you are a true American through and through there are very few wrong reasons to incorporate the red, white, and blue that represents America into your home dйcor. Patriotism seems to be a dieing art once again; perhaps your bold statement can inspire others to do the same.
Charming Games of Light and Shade: Bellevue Hill Residence in Sydney
Dense, almost muted materials, with subtle hues bring calm order – whilst still maintaining an appropriately strong presence. Integration of all joinery and services was a key requirement to simplify the design. Lighting was considered throughout the design process. We believe good lighting should be both functional and aesthetic while creating ambience both internally and externally. Ultimately the resultant aim was to indulge in a monochromatic home of smooth surfaces and planes, light and shadow. The linear lighting plan employed, was consistently arranged as long pelmets or coffers – to wash, bounce and reflect light off the surfaces and almost evaporate into the space. By day and by night the home is a triumph – it glows. Every surface has a purpose – to harness light.”

A-Cabin-Theme-for-Your-Home-Decorating-Needs
A Cabin Theme for Your Home Decorating Needs
When it comes to home decorating there is one thing that must be said-people seem to long for the simple life and cabin living. Of all the styles of decorating and dйcor this is one that seems to be repeated most often but in different ways. Seriously there are all kinds of 'cabin' dйcor websites, magazines, brochures, books, and how to videos all over the place than probably any other style of decorating.
One reason for the phenomenal popularity of this particular type of home decorating style probably has a little bit to do with the simplicity of it. There are no hard and fast rules, there aren't fancy faux finishes and textured painting that needs to be done in order to complete the look and there aren't overly complicated rules for what is and isn't acceptable. From the bear budget to the champagne and caviar crowd there is some sort of dйcor available that will suit not only the home decorating needs but also the need for quality as well.
Another thing that many find appealing about a cabin themed home decorating plan is that it simply exudes warmth year round. From the dark colors to the flannel materials and the soft homespun simplicity of the design many find it simply irresistible. One thing that is obvious in this style of decorating is that it appeals to those who love home and hearth and warmth and good will far more than modern touches and design elements. This is not a hard plastic sort of design style and it shouldn't endeavor to become one as the two styles are almost systematically opposed to one another.
If you want the warmth of a Montana cabin in your home every day of the year this is one great way to do it. Bring the bears, the moose, and all the furry forest friends to frolic in your living room, on your light fixtures, and in your dreams as you fall into restful sleep each night. From the bedroom to the bathroom and the kitchen in between the cabin style of home decorating is one that is making great waves in the market place.
You will find many stores online and locally that cater to the cabin loving audience for hardware, knick-knacks, and what knots galore. The thing to remember is that the design essence isn't the little touches you add along the way, it's the warmth of wood, fire, leather, and wrought iron. These are the materials that will establish the cabin appeal more quickly than any of the little touches you can add along the way. Drywall and plaster simply cannot carry the look. Knotty pine or some other rich style of wood is the best option for walls when pulling off a cabin home appeal.
More importantly than anything though is the need to include a little bit of yourself in the design. Do not hesitate to carve your initials with a heart into the wood of your walls. It is one more thing that will be not only endearing but also appropriate to the home and the atmosphere. There is a type of innocence about a cabin style home and the little touches such as that will leave a lasting impression.
